You have a few days off for Easter Holidays or you’d just like to spend a weekend away from home. Salento, land of beaches and sea, has always liked you, but it seems an unusual destination for a trip in the springtime. Of course not! If you want to enjoy the first sunbeams and moments of relaxation, without giving up to take part to some events, Salento will give you a warm welcome also in April.

This year Easter is in April, a special occasion to experience the traditions of the area during the holidays.

You can’t miss the “Canti di Passione” in the villages of Grecìa Salentina. The music event is dedicated to the recovery of the devotional songs of the passion of Christ. Musicians, choirs and ensembles perform inside and in the churchyards of the most beautiful churches of the villages of Calimera, Carpignano Salentino, Castrignano dei Greci, Corigliano, Cutrofiano, Martano, Martignano, Melpignano, Soleto, Sternatia, Zollino, Alessano and Galatina.

Always linked to the celebrations for Easter is the appointment that takes place every year in Santa Cesarea Terme with the “sagra della cuddura”, on Easter Monday. The “cuddura”, which means “abundance”, is the typical dessert of the Easter tradition, made from a dough of sweet bread, decorated with a boiled egg in the center.

Also in April, do not miss the San Marco Fair, which takes place in Ruffano on the 25th.San Marco, hearing protector, is celebrated every year by the village through the usual distribution to the faithful of a cotton pad soaked in blessed oil.
