Sandy beaches and sea with a sloping seabed characterize the natural park of “Le Cesine”, which extends for 620 hectares along the Adriatic coast from San Cataldo, up to Vernole. It is the oldest park (1980) and it is the perfect location for “birdwatching“. Here, in fact, birds, especially the aquatic ones, stop along the migratory routes.
Inside the park we find a large pine forest with wet areas with large marshes. In the reserve there are two ponds separated from the sea by dunes, “Pantano Grande” and “Salapi”, which survive thanks to underground aquifers and rainwater.

There are many species of birds that stop on these ponds. “Armed” with binoculars and patience it will be possible to admire, from the special wooden shelters, species such as the flamingo, the mallard, the marsh harrier and osprey, the peregrine heron, the pelican.
