Lido Marini

Lido Marini is a 2 km long beach, in the marina of Ugento, situated between Gallipoli (which is at 28km) and Santa Maria di Leuca (at 20 km) on the Ionian coast of Salento, with fine, golden sand.

The seaside resort of Lido Marini has a long beach of golden sand, which lasts for about 2 km sometimes free and sometimes fitted with its 5 equipped lidos and also a stretch of coast with rocky bottom, for those who love scuba diving or simply exploring the flora and fauna of its crystalline seabed.

Lido Marini is part of the beaches of the Marina di Ugento with Torre Mozza, Torre San Giovanni, and Fontanelle. The sandy beach, fine and golden is protected by dunes covered by vegetation, which give the feeling of being immersed in an exotic landscape. The beauty of the area has encouraged the development of tourism.

Very quiet and relaxing has in its interior, along the main street (Corso Colombo), all commercial activities and services of first necessity: bars, pizzerias, restaurants, pubs, newsagents, clothing stores, tobacconist, pharmacy, emergency room, pubs, supermarkets, bakeries, fishmongers, butchers, cash machine, etc.

STORIA E CENNI STORICI

The History of Lido Marini is relatively recent. Its tourist development, mostly dating back to the 70’s and 80’s, when they started to built the major tourist sites. The tourist destination, was favoured by drainage of the territory, by the fascist government, which made these areas safe and removed the dangerous Anopheles mosquitoes.

The mosquitoes vanished, fishermen and farmers began to slowly repopulate the area. With the development of the nearby Torre San Giovanni, Lido Marini followed her older sister and took on major projects of the territory revaluation that led her to become what we know today.

by car

Coming from north, take the highway A14 to Bari, heading towards south the motorway Bari – Lecce. Before you get to Lecce, take the East ring road and continue to Maglie – S. Maria di Leuca, for approximately 60 km, then take the exit onto Presicce and proceed for 9 Km to Lido Marini

by train

By train (Trenitalia) Salento is reached along the Adriatic (Milan – Bologna – Pescara) or through the Rome – Caserta. Once in Lecce FSE buses or FSE regional trains will take you up to Presicce and then continue by bus to Lido Marini. (for more information www.salentointrenoebus.it) 

by plane

By plane you can reach Salento by flying to Brindisi, where you will choose to wait for the terminal that connects the airport to the center of Lecce or rent a car. If you choose the first option you can continue using the FSE bus to Lido Marini.
